Power Adjustment (PPA)

Explanation of Power Adjustment on your Power Bill

PPA is the purchased power adjustment that is charged to each resident in the Village.

The Village of Skaneateles does not generate any power; we distribute it. Our electric rates reflect our base cost for hydropower and our cost to distribute the power over our lines. Due to the cost associated with the distribution, which is in addition to the purchase of the power itself, the NY State Public Service Commission, our regulatory body, has established a base cost per kwh for our system which is deducted from the overall power expense. The balance becomes a charge to our customers on their next bill. This charge, known as the "Power Adjustment" or PPA is reflected on each monthly bill.
