The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for maintenance of all Village streets, including paving, snow plowing, street sweeping, and brush pickup, storm sewer and sanitary sewer maintenance, assisting the water department with water main repairs, operation of the Lakeview Cemetery, maintenance of the Village Parks, maintenance of downtown area including the municipal lot, garbage pickup and public restrooms, maintenance of Village properties, and many other activities.
Snow accumulation is monitored and evaluated throughout the day and night to ensure the most effective use of our resources having the best possible snow removal response. Plowing typically begins in the very early morning hours and continues throughout the day and evening, as warranted. The DPW plows snow from Village streets and sidewalks, the municipal lot, and clears snowbanks from the downtown area. Residents are responsible for clearing snow from hydrants; however, we do assist in clearing snow from time to time.
Under Village Code Section 212-18, parking of vehicles is prohibited on all streets and municipal parking lots within the Village between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from November 15 to April 1.
WARNING: According to Section 1219 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and Section 214 of the Highway Law of New York State, Snow removal operators (Plow Services and individuals) on private properties may not push, pile or blow snow out into or across any public roadway system. Those that do may be issued a court appearance ticket. Be considerate of others. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our roadways safe for the traveling public.

Brush & Leaf Pickup:
DPW personnel pick up yard debris, including brush, limbs and leafs in the Spring and in the Fall. Spring pick up generally runs from late April to the first weekend in June. Fall leaf and brush pick up starts in mid-October and runs through November, depending on snow fall. Check your utility bill for notification of start and end dates!
Yard waste must be placed in the area between the curb and sidewalk - not in the street! Bush must be no longer than five (5) feet in length or eight (8) inches in diameter. Leaves should not be bagged.
